Of Means and Ends
The death of Abu Musab Zarkawi raises a few questions on the cost of eradicating a danger such as him. On one hand we see it as a good thing that we can stop any form of terrorism. zubedy does not agree with terrorism. However we do have to wonder about the unreported collateral damage that occurs when a 227kg bomb is dropped on a house in a neigbourhood.
Although we support the country and world’s endeavour to eradicate terrorism, we do not agree with any kind of activity that endangers and takes the lives of civilians especially children. We find this unacceptable.
We would like to see a more thorough reporting as many of us depend on local dailies for information. We would be happy if, when periodicals report on such things, they include other details like the effects or ramifications that occur as a result of an incident. We would like to know, as in this case how many other people died along with the one intended target. Perhaps the dailies could include an editorial footnote to mention these details.
.
While the act to eradicate a terrorist such as Zarkawi is indeed noble, the means must be correct. If civilians especially children are sacrificed then we cannot support what had happened in Iraq.
