There is a change in the current workforce demographics. For the first time in modern history, four generations – Traditionalists, Baby Boomers, Gen X, and Gen Y – are working side by side – each bringing their own culture and identity into the workplace. This has created various needs and challenges within the organization. Soon, the youngest of the generation, Gen Z, will be entering the workforce. This generation can be expected to bring in a different set of attitudes and expectations to work, just like the previous generations. However, they are more technologically “plugged-in” than Gen Y. This will affect their preferences and work styles.

Thus, there is an urgent need to shape a new way to manage and deal with the various generations that can balance the needs of the organisation while at the same time inspire and move them towards productive action. Any new method designed must take into consideration the needs of all four generations. It is important that all generations are made to understand the most important need which is the corporate goal.

As such, we need to shift their attention not towards what they want but what the organisation needs; a pressing necessity to understand that in every organisation, the bottom line rests in accomplishing the organisational vision, mission, and goals. Paying attention to what they want and grouses instead of what the organisation requires will not bring in what is required – business and organisation excellence.

Zubedy’s Managing Across Generations (MAG) program aims to answer these questions:

  1. How to get the best of each generation?
  2. How to manage each generation especially Gen Y?
  3. How to make them HAPPY and PERFORMING?
  4. How to make them understand the Management Tasks & Functions?
  5. How to increase conceptual knowledge and understanding within the field of management and organization?

The MAG program will provide you with an understanding and appreciation of the socio-historical context of each generation while aiming to provide a roadmap to becoming an effective manager that get things done and make things happen. It will answer the ‘who, what, when, where and hows’ of making things happen. It will also provide an understanding of the key support systems in an organization, the skills needed to lead and manage the different generations, stategic planning and action in line with the big picture.
